Tottenham vs Ajax Live
Tottenham’s incredible season in the Champions League on Tuesday night
as they host Ajax in the first leg of their semi-final tie. Spurs may
have scraped through their group, but have been superb since then,
ousting Borussia Dortmund and then Manchester City in a classic second
leg at the Etihad. Ajax have also enjoyed a spectacular European
campaign, knocking out Real Madrid and Juventus in the last two rounds
and announcing themselves as one of the most exciting young sides on the
planet. These two teams have played each other just twice before and
Spurs have won both matches. Can they continue this unbeaten run against
the Dutch side and book a place in their first ever Champions League
final?
Tottenham have been a hard nut to crack throughout this season’s European competition. After finishing runners-up in Group B that also had fellow semi-finalists Barcelona, along with Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven, Mauricio Pochettino’s men overcame German giants Borussia Dortmund 4-0 on aggregate in the Round of 16.

The quarter-final contest with Manchester City was one of the most epic
battles this season, as Spurs edged out their Premier League rivals on
the away goals rule, despite losing the second leg 4-3. Since that
match, the Lilywhites have lost two of their three league games, with
their most recent fixture ending in a 1-0 loss to West Ham United at
home.
Storylines
Tottenham: It remains to be seen if Harry Kane can return for these
matches with his ankle injury, and if he can't go, things could get a
little complicated. Son Heung-Min is out of the first leg due to
suspension. It's a different looking Spurs with Lucas Moura in the final
third, but without Son and Kane, this team may have to rely on Fernando
Llorente in attack.
Ajax: No fear and nothing to lose. By knocking off Real Madrid and
Juventus, this team couldn't have any more confidence. On the road it
has won at Real and Juve in the knockout stage, so against a weakened
Spurs team, why can't they do it again? They'll gladly take a draw with
goals though, and they will go forward in numbers to get at least one
away goal.
